I have to tell you I was emotionally gutted by the story at first. I thought I ‘knew’ the characters and I was being carried along in the story believing I knew where it started and where it would finish. I was wrong on most every front, but I was happy to take the journey and not disappointed at the end. Beautifully written Ms. Ocean. You know how to tell a story and bring the reader along for the ride.

I read this novella not long ago and was captivated from the very beginning. The descriptions of the setting and the characters are real without being too wordy, and the reader can really feel like he/she is going along on the journey. And what a journey it is!

Whether you get my book or not, I hope you’re driving safely, being courteous and taking stock of where you are in your life, this time of year. Others may not be as fortunate as you are.

I usually take a day or so (and quite often longer than that) to review my year, count all my blessings, bandage my wounds and consider the many lessons I’ve learned along the last 365 days.

I hope your year has been blessed with friends and love. In the absence of that, I like to think maybe you blessed others with your friendship and love.
